Not sure which wall plate type you need? This guide will help you identify the correct configuration for your switches, outlets, and blank covers.

The 3 basic types

Every wall plate fits one of three basic opening shapes. Look at your existing switch or outlet to determine which type you need.

Toggle switch illustration

The classic up-and-down flip switch with a small protruding lever. Narrow rectangular opening with rounded ends.

Duplex outlet illustration

A standard two-prong outlet with two D-shaped halves stacked vertically. Each duplex hosts one pair of plug slots.

Rocker · Decora switch illustration

Wide flat paddle switch (or modern Decora-style outlet). Large rectangular opening.

Please count the number of switches and outlets on your existing plate and match them to the correct type above. Wall plates are non-interchangeable between toggle, rocker, and duplex openings.
